The year is 2033. Humanity clings to survival in the ruins of civilisation, sheltering in the Moscow Metro after nuclear catastrophe renders the surface uninhabitable. Mutated life roams above, while underground, former stations have become fragile statelets, united by fear and divided by belief. Artyom, a young man from VDNKh, is tasked with travelling deep into the Metro to warn of a growing threat. His mission could determine the fate of his home—and the last vestiges of humanity.
